Moment Full of Regrets

I wish I had put more effort. And attention was not what mattered.

I wish I had made the right choice. And it was of my own.

I wish I had stayed a while longer. To see how things would have turned out to be.

Arrrggghhhhhh!!!!

Do I have to endure all these pain for all those things I wish could be undone?

Till when?

Career Choices

Few days ago, I read an article in The Star regarding how the economy affects job talents. The articles had basically described the swift on choice of career during tough times.

During the Great Depression, many aspired to be civil engineers as development was still scarce and infrastructures need to be built in an attempt to improve the economy whilst creating job opportunities to the people.

Recently, the current credit crunch and global economic crisis had deterred the youngsters from enrolling into financial and investment studies. The shutdowns and bail outs of many prestigious investment banks have wary many young graduates who were ready to take on the world. On the other side of the fence, retrenchments and layoffs take a huge toll on the manufacturing and construction industries. Such events have cornered the young graduates whose ambitions have shambled to opt for less challenging jobs in the government sector as it provides an adequate amount of security. The more domestically inclined resorts to education which is indeed a noble profession.

Questions that pops into mind :-
(a) The Great Depression had encouraged infrastructures and buildings to be built for the benefit of the nation. Create job opportunities, generate income, and encourage spending. But with the saddening economic situation that we are facing now, how would opting for comfort zone help to improve the economy?

(b) Will this comfort zone assure security and stability in the next few years if everyone decides to play safe? Fair enough, that the government need to save their big corporations in order to make sure that the domino effect does not take place, but would there be enough funds to accommodate to what lies ahead?

(c) If the situation worsens, what should we do next?

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the economy and etc. It’d be great if there’s any one or two who can share their opinions with me or would be pleased enough to explain the affects and how it can be improved.

So, what makes you opt for the job you’re having right now?
(a) Security? Stability? Don’t want to get out of your comfort zone? You’re fulfilled with what you have.

(b) No other option? That’s the only corporation that accepts your application?

(c) Interest? Passion? That’s the organisation that you have always dream of working for? The objective of the company is paralleled with the direction you’re heading?

(d) The company pays you good money and gives you a lot of perks?

(e) The name of the prestigious corporation speaks for itself?

(f) Serving the community? Helping the nation?
